There was a great article in last Wednesdays telegraph, two pages about Declan Rice and specifically mentioned Dennis.

Only knew him from the Hornchurch coach, just a big but a mild mannered guy

It still seems unbelievable how one minute Dennis was here and then he was gone. He was a man of his word and a true Hammer. His family and close friends are in my thoughts today.

Was always helpful and selfless in my experience. I shall think of him and drink to his memory tonight.

I remember a couple of years ago I needed to give someone I didn't know some money. This person asked if I knew Denis and said to give it to him at the Gillingham game. I couldn't find him by kick off so tried to text him . As I was trying to text, some lump squeezed past and nearly knocked my phone out of my hands getting to the empty seat next to me. It was Denis.

He didn't know about the money but ensured it got to the right person without any fuss. Small favour but typical of him.

going right back to 75/76 how he loved a trip to Europe , thinking of him and his family today R.I.P Dennis .

We've lost a few now, including Defjam's brother who wasn't West Ham but by association kind of was. I sometimes wonder if we're unique in the football forum community in our honesty when shit gets dark?

Every one of them would have loved last season and the contemplation of this coming one. There again, all of them missed this Covid madness

Anyway, I am thinking of them all and hope they and their families find peace. God bless.

I’ve thought about him a lot this season, thinking how much he’d have enjoyed it and how he’d be planning the European away days.

Hope today is t too difficult for Jacqui, Penny or Billy... or any of his close friends.
